The Sabbat

-The Sword-

The Devenreaux family had made a name for themselves across the swamps and bayou lands of Texas and Louisiana. Their Haitian and Acadian roots had always been suffocated tightly by a soil of dark secrets. From voodoo, to Santeria and onto undead dealings this French-Creole family had been dealing with it all since they first landed on the docks of New Orleans in the 1700's as part of the local slave trade.

It shouldn't be a suprise to anyone who knew the family well to know that their more prominant and wealthy of family members also held membership to a more constrictive family.

The Tzimisce and the Sword have been throughout these parts longer than any other sect. They've stretched out their grasps from Mexico city to Galveston and the Devenreaux clan of misfits have been there with them all along. Anton Devenreaux himself had taken the seat as Arch Bishop of Galveston County area as his brother Maurice du Bois took the chair as Bishop.

With his brother keeping the Island in check as the Bishop his daughter Miette duLac remained by his side as his pupil and retainer as she had always been. For over 20 years Anton did his duties and trusted in his brother to take care of the land and his daughter when he was away.

Things did not work out quite the way Anton wished them to in the end.

After a century of loyal service to the sword Maurice took it upon himself to seek personal gain and betray the sect he proclaimed to hold dear. He betrayed the trust of his brother and had his daughter's virtue defiled after taking from her the life she had known.

Tired and confused by the news he heard while on business Anton arrived to find his brother missing and his daughter in a most despicable state. His Bishop had broken the code and used the sect to do so. Immediately Anton went to hunt him down. This turn of events unlocked many mysteries and gained the sect knowledge.

However Anton was not the one to lead the hunt, he was rescued from torture at the hands of Maurice as the soon to be named Bishop Mother Malak led the charge. His rescue from one hell only led to another hell.

During his escape he fed from a contaminated thin blood. Infected with some virus that seemed to affect vampiric immune systems he slowly began to fall apart. Unable to feed properly he slowly weakened.

His last night came unexpectedly to everyone but him. With all the Ducti surrounding him he signed a letter that was passed to Mother Malak before naming her the new Bishop of Galveston. In Malak's moment of shock over the new Anton's sunken lips grinned once more before he began to crumble before them like an ashened cinder.

Baron LaCroix attempted to decipher these new blood patterns that brought on the demise of their Arch Bishop and a new man sits in his office that goes by the name of Quentin. He's of the bluest bureaucratic blood and believes in justice; most rightly in the oldest of forms.

With the current help of the ducti, the warriors and scholars of the island have been able to bring stability to the state of the island and possibly to Houston itself.
